Sticking to Macro Routines-

While we all had to leave our places of work and #shelterinplace, some of us found a few extra minutes and in cases like me extra hours of FREE TIME! Most of this extra time should have come from actual commuting, taking the kids to school, and maybe some getting ready for the day time.

However, in order to actually survive 3.5-4 hour daily commutes I had to learn to maximize the use of the time, whether it was sticking to those language lessons in 8-10 week cycles..., using the time to work and avoid longer office hours, or just relax and kick back into the land of YouTube and streaming binges. So technically (including the binges because it is just as important to disconnect and relax as it is a function of increasing creativity and productivity) these new non commuting hours are not really "FREE TIME...." I already was utilizing them as free and/or time to maintain productivity. The challenge now is making sure I still allocate those 3.5-4 commuting hours to language learning, keeping the work day in check, and maintaining a balance of disconnection and being engaged.

However, when the pre-corona day consisted of 3.5/4 hour daily commutes, 9 hour work days, 1-2 hours at the gym, 2-3 hours of family time, + an hour of random errand time... the allure to get more than 6... maybe at best 6.5/7 hours of sleep on a wash rinse (train, work, train) repeat 5 times per week (ok I would totally take advantage of the pre corona WFH policy of once every other week)... 48 weeks a year....getting an extra hour maybe 2 of sleep is very very tempting.
