While surviving is great and all... who really just wants the basics when something so much more meaningful is attainable. If you didn't notice there was a bit of a theme with the pictures in the surviving section- anyone take notice??? I know the writing was very captivating … lol- so for those that were in such deep thought from my profound words- They were all shots I took on my lunch breaks and other times of scheduled getting out of the house time.

Working from home is like a dream come true- its like having a permanent unlimited soft serve machine at your full disposal- but like that 2nd supersized cookie dough concrete... there really is something as too much of good thing.... and when it comes to working from home its having too much "flex" time.

Time which would be spent commuting, getting ready for an office environment (ie a place where sweatpants are not optional), and the extra time costs associated with commuting (more trips to the gas station, more frequent vehicle maintenance management, more blowouts, trips to the barber... etc) are all given back as flex time while working from home. Score!!!

Or is it... It is critical to not slip into bad habits or activities you wouldn't normally do while commuting to an office. Just because there are an extra 2 hours available doesn't mean one should work an extra 3 or 4, skipping lunch and working into the night. While some days may require an extra hour or more, it can not be habitual.

The same goes for oversleeping, over binging, or anything with an "over" in front of it.

The Fix- look at your HR manual and find out how much time you are allowed for lunch and block this time off on your calendar- and use this time for YOU- Take a walk, a power nap, refuel with a healthy lunch, binge something, whatever you need to do to recharge and take on the rest of the day. Personally I like taking a walk down to the beach.
